AI Agent

An AI agent is a system that can pursue a goal by deciding what actions to take, using tools and responding to the results of those actions.

Rather than producing a single response to a prompt, an agent can perform a sequence of actions: searching for information, writing and running code, using software, calling APIs or delegating work to other agents.

Agents describe a way AI systems act. They do not describe how intelligent those systems are.
