Intelligence Explosion

An intelligence explosion is a hypothetical period in which increasingly capable AI systems accelerate the creation of still more capable AI systems, producing a rapid positive feedback loop in intelligence.

The idea is closely associated with recursive self-improvement and is one proposed mechanism through which superintelligence or a technological singularity could emerge.

An intelligence explosion is a hypothesis about the speed of progress, not another name for AGI.
