Reasoning Model

A reasoning model is an AI model optimized to perform multi-step problem-solving before producing an answer or taking an action.

Reasoning models are particularly useful for tasks such as mathematics, software engineering, scientific analysis and planning where reaching the answer requires intermediate computation or exploration.

Reasoning ability is one dimension of intelligence; it is not by itself equivalent to general intelligence.
