Recursive Self-Improvement

Recursive self-improvement describes a process in which an AI system contributes to improving the systems or processes used to create its successors.

If each generation becomes progressively better at AI research itself, the process could create a feedback loop in capability development.

Recursive self-improvement is often discussed as a possible route from AGI to superintelligence, but its speed, limits and ultimate effects remain unknown.
