The Technological Singularity

The technological singularity is a hypothetical point beyond which technological change becomes so rapid or profound that the future can no longer be meaningfully predicted using existing models of society.

It is often associated with superintelligent AI and recursive self-improvement, but neither AGI nor superintelligence automatically implies a singularity.

A useful way to think about it is as a horizon rather than a capability level.

AGI asks: how capable is the machine?

Superintelligence asks: how far beyond humans has it gone?

The singularity asks: can we still predict what happens next?
